Ostel, Auroville:
Ostel is a hostel with dorm beds and rooms, is just adjacent to the Auroville beach. The cleanliness, beautiful interiors, and proximity to the beach makes it our top choice. On the top floor, you can visit the extended balcony and have the cool breeze freshen up your face. They have female dorms as well if in case you prefer that.
For the Fun Traveler (Hotel):
Villa Shanti, White Town:
White Town is famous for its French style architecture, saffron-colored buildings, and clean beautiful roads. Villa Shanti is an accurate representation of White Town. This hotel has amazing interiors and even better hospitality. Tip: Look for 'Villa Krish' if this place is priced up.
For the Luxurious Traveler :
Radisson Blu, Near Eden Beach:
How about a luxury resort just near the beach which has several amenities and delicious food?
Based in a unique location, this resort offers comfort and luxury just near the cleanest beach of Pondicherry.
Where to Eat
1. Coromandel Café, White Town
Coromandel Café is hands-on the best place to eat in Pondicherry. With its divine interiors and delectable menu, please don't miss this spot. They don't have a huge menu, enabling them to master each of their dishes.
Their smoked tofu & mushroom skewers are a must-try!
Note: This place usually has a lot of people coming in to eat. Please arrive 1 hour before to grab a seat. For dinner, it is recommended to visit before 7:30 PM to not be declined a table.
2. Bread & Chocolate, Auroville
A great bakery serving baked delicacies along with tasty savories as well. Having your breakfast here can be a great decision! Their chocolate croissant and tomato shakshuka are a must-try!
3. Marc's Café, Auroville
A famous coffee place in Auroville, that will give you cozy vibes and delectable coffee.
You can have your breakfast here if you are staying over in Auroville, and then head over to your day.
4. Gelateria Montecatini Terme (GMT) Ice Cream, Rock Beach
This ice cream spot facing Rock Beach serves yummy scoops of ice cream. The location is great, grab a scoop and finish it watching the waves on the Rock beach. Their tiramisu flavor is a must-try.
4. Zuka, Heritage Town
A decent desert place if you are crazy about deserts. Their chocolate pastries are quite famous and well-known in Pondicherry.
Tip: The locality of this place is great, don't miss walking around Heritage Town and exploring the local shops and handicrafts.
What to do
1. Serenity Beach
Serenity is not the most popular beach for sure in Pondicherry, and that might be the reason why we prefer it over others. You won't find a lot of crowd here, which will allow you to enjoy your time here in peace.
Tip: There are huge stones near the water on the right side of the entry, climbing those and sitting on top will give you a great vibe. Recommended time: Morning or Afternoon
2. White Town / Rock Beach
White Town is a French paradise! The extremely beautiful buildings, their neat architecture and elegance, will leave you flabbergasted. The streets have great shops, tasty eateries, and a very good vibe! Rock Beach is adjacent to White Town and is a delight to visit in the evening.
3. Auroville
Auroville is a township in Pondicherry that practices peace and spirituality. It's one of a kind in India, and a tour of Auroville and the famous Matri Mandir is a must-do.
Tip: There's a guided cycling tour as well, which is 2 hours long and covers Auroville for you.
4. Eden Beach
Eden Beach is a Blue Flag beach, which is a coveted award for any beach. It is the cleanest beach in Pondicherry, and certainly one of the most beautiful.
The way to the beach is also one to look up to!
Tip: This beach offers a great sunset view.
